Since signing the Managed Services Contract with Abbott in early 2022, we have been progressively upgrading our analytical equipment at all sites across the network and we are implementing automation at the hub sites of Frimley, Wexham and St Peters.

Last year we automated chemistry at Frimley and we are now delighted to inform you that we have full automation across Blood Sciences at Frimley, with the launch of haematology and coagulation

This reduces the need for extensive manual handling of samples and provides significant efficiencies in our laboratory service, and will further increase the quality of our service offered and enhance our service resilience across the network, allowing us to focus on value-added interventions.

Later this year we will be adding automation at Wexham once the laboratory building works and renovations are complete. Automation for Immunology, Virology and Blood Sciences will be launched this summer at St Peters.
